LDC. Was established by a couple of Lisu people, Mr.Manop Yangja and Mr.James Fish in March'1994 and operating as non-profit voluntary organization. Initially LDC Focused on HIV/AIDS prevention among the ethnic minority unskilled labors who were working in various workplace in Chiang Mai city and near by.

Poverty is a major problem which forced them to leave their community and lured to the cities for better opportunities and surviving. Community sustainable economic projects to educate and protect them from being lured to the cities and getting involved in commercial sex are needed. Currently LDC Support several community groups for operating income generation projects.

Vision for target people is to see vulnerable underprivileged communities strong enough to cope with their own problems effectively and remain in solidarity.

Vision for LDC organization is be regional coordinating and facilitating self-supported organization.

Philosophy

We believed in human dignity and equal rights for receiving security and social service from relevant organizations both government and non-government organizations who respond to these issues.

We believed that human beings are God's creature, and his image. He would like every one to be saved and free from all the bondage both physically and spiritually. He maintains everything in terms of global interdependency and unity.

Presently, LDC. conducting four main types of projects are;

1. HIV/AIDS and drug prevention and care projects.

2. Poverty alleviation by creating community economic sustainable projects

3. Community groups development projects including ecumenical association and development program.

4. Children and women's development projects.

LDC Projects

1. HIV/AIDS and drug prevention and care projects activities include;

1.2 Provide HIV/AIDS and drug prevention and care training.

1.3 Produce and distribute HIV/AIDS and drug prevention and care information materials.

1.4 Visiting and assisting fundamental needs for HIV infected people.



2. Poverty alleviation project activities include;

2.1 Provides technical and financial support for community groups for operating community economic sustainable projects/income generation projects.



3. Community groups development project activities include;

3.1 Provide various aspects of development training e.g. project management training, communication training, capacity building training, church management and development training, community development skills training etc.

3.2 Arrange various aspects of seminars for collaboration and association.



4. Children and women's development projects include;

4.1 Support nursery school for pre-school children.

4.2 Gender equality.

4.3 Promote children's rights.
