OPAL Community Land Trust exists for the following purposes and abides by these principles:
1) To acquire and hold land in an environmentally sensitive and socially responsible manner.
2) To provide permanently affordable access to land, homes, and workplaces for current and future community members in need and/or of low and moderate income.
3) To prevent land and resource speculation which conflicts with the community’s interest in conserving land and access to permanently affordable housing.
4) To develop and exercise responsible, ecological practices which preserve, protect, and enhance the land’s natural, scenic, recreational, and productive attributes.
5) To serve as a model of land stewardship and community development and to enable others to form community land trusts by providing information, resources, and expertise.
