General Information:
We are a small family operation located on beautiful Orcas Island, Wa just 1.5 miles from the ferry landing. Our farm is situated on a South facing, sloped valley with a beautiful pond for swimming and surrounded by forest for easy access to hiking and biking. With 2 acres under cultivation, we have developed a successful farm business selling organic veggies, flowers, berries and herbs to our CSA members, local restaurants, schools and at the farmers market,.
General Internship/Apprenticeship Information:
Internship starts: April 1st
Internship ends: November 1st

Work/Experience Desired:
Some farm experience preferred but a strong desire to learn is enough. Must enjoy hard physical labor and early mornings. Must have good "people" skills for Farmers Market and enjoy working with children for school programing.
Details about Internship/Apprenticeship:
5 to 5 1/2 days working with head farmer. Tasks include bed prep, seeding, planting, cultivating, harvesting, preparing produce and flowers for market, restaurants and CSA, caring for chickens, composting, and all other aspects of food production. Interns will also assist with educational programing and various farm related events.
Education Opportunity:
You will have a chance to learn in the greenhouse, out in the fields, at the compost and vermicompost sites and in the marketplace-from seeds to soil to market! Assistance with developing garden based education programs for local school. Carpentry skills a possibility. Possibility for longer term farm manager position.
Stipend/Compensation:
Depends on experience: Approx $400/month + utilities.
