Purpose:
Women for Women International seeks a Major Gifts Manager to spearhead the growth of high-potential major gifts program. This position will manage major gifts officers, and be responsible for the portfolios of the President and the U.S. Executive Director. As a senior member of the Institutional Advancement team, the Major Gifts Manager will collaborate closely with the Director of Institutional Advancement, senior management and the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors capable of making leadership gifts ($25,000-plus)
- Staff the President and the U.S. Executive Director in the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of leadership-level donors and prospects
- Develop and implement comprehensive solicitation strategies with volunteer leadership and senior management to secure leadership donations
- Mentor and manage major gifts officers (2+) and prospect researcher (1)
- Create all major gifts solicitation materials for leadership donors and prospects
- Oversee the drafting of correspondence and proposals for leadership donors and prospects
- Travel locally, regionally, nationally, and potentially internationally to assist in the solicitation of leadership gifts
- Build long-term relationships with donors and prospects and identify and cultivate their interests
- Track prospect and donor contacts in a moves management system
- Lead the major gifts team in the development and distribution of cultivation mailings and annual appeals
- Work closely with senior members of the Institutional Advancement team on special initiatives and events
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed:
- Passion for Women for Women International’s mission
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three to five years of development and major gift experience preferred
- Established track record of success in identifying and soliciting major gifts
- Strong strategic thinking skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, management skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to work well both independently and with others
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent computer skills, including competency with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and Outlook
- Willingness to travel
