About
Make the Environment a Key Issue during Election 2008!
The next President and Congress of the U.S. must take on global warming, build the nation's renewable energy capacity, secure clean air and clean water, and protect the nation's unspoiled places. Organizers are needed to identify, organize and educate voters and volunteers, and hold candidates accountable for their positions on environmental issues.
Environment America is hiring
college graduates and qualified others for positions in swing states
nationwide. Although this is an entry level position, there is no age or
educational limitation. Apply now to join us for an intensive 3-day
training in late July, then fan out to any one of 10 or more swing states to
spend 14 weeks building grassroots support for Environment America, pressing
presidential and congressional candidates on
environmental issues while educating voters about the critical environmental issues
facing our nation.
Environment America, the federation of state-based environment groups, is a powerful advocate for our environment. We speak out and take action at the local, state, and national levels to improve the quality of our environment and our lives.

Candidates should possess leadership skills, demonstrated academic excellence, problem-solving ability, top-notch communication skills, and readiness to jump into the fight and win it. All staff will be asked to commit to working through the November 2008 election.
Responsibilities include:
. Recruiting and training volunteers
. Raising money and awareness for environmental issues such as global warming,
clean energy, and more
. Questioning candidates at campaign events
. Educating voters on candidates' environmental records
. Providing information for voters about polling locations

Environment America is currently hiring organizers in NH, PA, OH, MI, WI, IA, NM, CO, NV, and VA. New staff will be assigned to a location in one of these states during the 3-day training in July. All staff must be geographically flexible for the duration of the election season.
