About
SUMMARY:
INTERIGHTS is currently looking to hire a new Executive Director.
The Executive Director will be based in London, but will be required
to travel from time to time and ability to travel internationally is
essential (on average not more than eight weeks per year).
Primary Objective: To provide leadership to the organisation,
playing a key role in setting its mission and strategies, developing
policies and programmes, providing vision as to INTERIGHTS' role
within the human rights community and ensuring that the
organisation's short and long-term objectives are realised within the
framework of its mandate and values.
MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Overall vision and professional leadership;
2. Strategic planning;
3. Supervision and Direction of Staff and Organisational Management;
4. Board and Advisory Council;
5. Fiscal Responsibility and Fundraising;
6. Information, Publications and Communication.

ESSENTIAL PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Human Rights and Law:
-- Profound understanding of international human rights issues;
-- Working knowledge of international and comparative human rights
law (although formal legal qualifications are not required);
-- Knowledge of human rights actors and/or the legal profession
and/or civil society.
Management:
-- At least ten years experience of management (including for part
of this period at a senior level);
-- Experience in setting, implementing and evaluating strategy and
policies;
-- Experience in managing and motivating people;
-- Knowledge of fundraising and of the management of financial
resources;
-- Computer literacy;
-- Sensitivity to working in a multicultural environment and
commitment to promoting respect for equality and diversity.
Outreach:
-- Excellent oral, writing and editing skills in English;
-- Experience of public speaking;
-- Experience in developing and maintaining high level
professional relationships and partnerships.
