About

WiserEarth.org is looking for a volunteer to turn wireframe mockups into interactive, clickable HTML pages.  Ideally, the volunteer will have experience coding in HTML and CSS, and possibly some light javascript.

A little background first:

We've designed new pages for the website and would like to have users test them before we proceed with actual coding.  The mockups now are just a series of static pictures - users can't interact or click on links to take them to other pages.  We'd like to have a volunteer help turn these pictures into basic HTML pages so that users can input in data (i.e. name, keyword interests), choose from drop-down menus, and click through on hyperlinks to visit the other pages.

One requirement for the HTML pages is that form data must persist for the entire testing session.  What that means is that if the user inputs in information on a page, that information will be carried over onto subsequent pages.

One example of this would be the sign-up process.  Let's say the user signs up on page 1 and enters in their name and location.  When they finish with the sign-up process and visit their profile page, they should see the name and location they previously entered.

The HTML pages are expected to be simple, working prototypes - nothing necessarily fancy or beautiful, but working well enough that we can do user testing and see how they feel about the UI (user interface) for the new designs. Experience with CSS is a plus here, as it makes it easier to make changes to the visual design without affecting the content on the pages.

If this sounds like a project you'd be interested in taking, please contact us at info@wiserearth.org, with subject heading: HTML Volunteer.  Volunteers can be local or remotely based, as long as they're fine communicating over emails and the occasional conference call.
