About

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Women's Rights and Citizenship Program supports research in
developing regions. This includes research on women's citizenship and
governance, access to justice, sexual and reproductive rights,
economic rights, and migration. 

Working under the supervision of the Program Leader, the Research
Officer contributes to the development and operation of the Program
Area, produces documentation, and coordinates and disseminates
information in support of the Program.

The principle responsibilities include research support; coordination
of program and project development; coordination of some project and
program initiative evaluations; network development including
facilitation of electronic communications; and liaison with key
internal and external constituents.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

-- Masters degree in a relevant social science discipline such as
international development, economics, or public administration, or
bachelors degree with relevant research experience.

-- One to three years of relevant research and project
coordination experience 
-- Work experience in a developing region an asset
-- Bilingual (English and French) position at an intermediate
level
-- Knowledge of economic and social policy issues in one or more
of regions targeted by the Program 
-- Familiarity with database management an asset.

COMPETENCIES:

-- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills 
-- Strong planning, organizing, coordinating, problem-solving and
liaising skills under pressure when deadlines must be met 
-- Sound MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet
skills 
-- Ability to perform research-related tasks (e.g. library
research, analysis and synthesis of documents, writing and editing) 
-- Ability to work with others as an effective and cooperative
member of a diverse, multidisciplinary, international team 
-- Ability to work under minimum supervision and to be a creative
self-starter 
-- Awareness of and sensitivity to individual, gender and cultural
differences.
