Job Description:

  • Take the responsibility of advocating for funding on behalf of the A W.I.S.H. - Sierra Leone
  • Serve on the decision making board
  • Direct and carry out activities, in terms of organization, strategic planning, and operation
  • Attend regular board meetings
  • Serve for a period of 3 years

Organization Description and Mission:


A World Institute for a Sustainable Humanity-Sierra Leone (AWISH-S/L) is a non-political and non-profit organization. It was born out of mutual understanding and affiliate agreement with AWISH-International, a USA based charitable and non governmental organization.

It was established in Sierra Leone in 2003 and registered under the Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children’s Affairs and with the Freetown City Council under the Local Government Act 2004.

Aims and Objectives:
  • To promote and protect human rights with particular focus on rural women, youth and children
  • To promote grassroots participation in decision-making and inclusive governance at all levels of society
  • To promote community-driven initiatives for women’s empowerment
  • To enhance respect for democratic values.
  • To develop sustainable agricultural projects which can be implemented in rural and peri – urban communities as a means of empowering such communities in their quest for sustenance

Mission Statement:
AWISH-S/L mission is to enhance citizen’s active participation and involvement in upholding and promoting a human rights culture and participatory governance at the grassroots levels through effective information dissemination, advocacy, lobbying, dialogue forums, civic education and community driven activities

Vision:
AWISH-S/L vision is to see a state (Sierra Leone) which is democratic, responsive and community driven where every Sierra Leonean enjoys equal rights and access to opportunities to actualize individual, group and national aspiration.
