Sunset Youth Services is a private, faith-based non-profit organization established in 1993 to provide services to low-income youth and families that live, work, go to school or otherwise identify with the Sunset District. Sunset Youth Services focuses its work on the following four areas: Juvenile & Family Case Management, Campus Support & Literacy Enrichment, Technology & Digital Arts and Outreach & Recreation.

Job Description:
The Development Manager plays a crucial role in the vitality and longevity of Sunset Youth Services and is fundamental in enabling us to serve our community and reach towards our long-term vision. In partnership with the Executive Director, the Development Manager will assist in raising funds to cover the costs of a range of programmatic needs as well as in enabling the organization to strive towards its goals for capacity building and growth.

Responsibilities:

•    Design and manage fundraising activities for Sunset Youth Services
     o    Co-develop annual fundraising plan and goals
     o    Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities against these goals
•    Research and identify prospective (and cultivate existing) donors – foundations, individuals and partner organizations
•    Compile, write, and edit all grant letters of intent and proposals in accordance with each grant-making organization’s guidelines
•    Submit grant acknowledgment letters, progress reports and final reports to funders in a timely manner
•    Coordinate quarterly production of Sunset Youth Services’ newsletters and bi-monthly appeal letters
•    Acquire in-kind donations and corporate sponsorships
•    Review program budgets and make recommendations
•    Track fundraising activity to ensure compliance with deadlines
•    Serve as liaison to the Board of Directors, providing monthly grant reports and communicating periodic updates on how funds are used
•    Help design creative and lucrative online fundraising strategies
•    Assist with planning and execution of Sunset by the Bay, the annual fundraising gala


Major Qualifications:

•    Strong writing, editing and communication skills; prior grant writing experience is a plus
•    Organized and detail oriented
•    Ability to prioritize, multi-task and track multiple deadlines
•    Investment and personal commitment to the mission and values of the organization
•    Ability and desire to work with a team in a community-based environment
•    Ability to publicly represent organization effectively, either formally or informally
•    Creative and flexible / able to respond fluidly to changing priorities
•    Self-motivated
•    Enthusiastic and personable
•    Responsible
•    Ability to handle situations in mature and level-headed manner
•    Positive role model
•    Fluent in Microsoft Office applications
•    Experience with Google online applications (i.e. Google Docs, Calendar, etc.) is a plus
•    Local / within daily commute range to San Francisco

Job Terms / Compensation:

•    $20/hr, quarter time position
•    $10K annual
•    Reports to Executive Director Dawn Stueckle
