About
Seeking Land Partner
Seeking a land partner to share in the great amount of beauty, responsibility, joy and work that exists here at Edge Land Farm.
The Place
Edge Land is located on 24 beautiful acres along the Atascadero and Green Valley Creeks. Twenty-two acres are dedicated to a wildlife preserve, and two acres are landscaped/cultivated.Edge Land is located 1 mile from Graton, 4.5 miles from downtown Sebastopol, and 15 miles from the Sonoma Coast. In the past few seasons we have cultivated fruit trees, berries, rare breed sheep, chickens, a rose garden and an educational herb garden. There is also a large 150-year-old redwood dairy barn–now a classroom/woodshop, a massage/dance/yoga/meeting room, a sauna house andlots of breathtaking trees, walking trails and wildlife.
What is Land Partner?
A land partner is someone who shares the same vision of living and working together harmoniously on the same piece of land. The land partner will have their own living accommodations either in a small cottage or in aroom in the guesthouse. In exchange for rent, the land partner will share the cleaning, maintenance, landscaping, animal and plant care, and other projects involved with caretaking the Farm.
Exchange Specifics
An average of 15 hours a week of community work will be traded for housing. When I’m away, the land partner will run the farm, which may involve a larger time-commitment during those periods. At other times the hours may be fewer.
I’d like to occasionally share meals, and sometimes host small get-togethers. Along with the with a work-tradecomponent, I see being a land partner as a mutually beneficial living situation between friends, who have a shared interest in making Edge Land a great place to live.
Who I Am
I am a 38-year-old man, and have worked at various times as an educator, artist, and herbalist. Right now I’m working toward starting-up an environmental educational nonprofit, and of course, running the farm. Some of my interests/hobbies include: cultural ecology, social sculpture, writing, fine arts, plant medicine, and inventing.
Who I Am Looking for
I am seeking a land partner who I look forward to seeing and spending time with each day. Compatibility, and similar interests and values are important. I’d like share the land with someone who is intelligent, emotionally stable, grown-up, fun, kind, centered, gentle, has some kind of dedicated spiritual practice, a good sense of humor, lots of positive energy and enjoys life!
I am looking for a person, who like me, has long harbored a dream taking caring of and developing a deep, caring relationship with the land, animals and plants where they live. They should have enough real-life experience to understand that stewarding a large property with a number of domestic plants and animals requires a lot of hard, often dirty, work.
Some desirable life-experience/skills that are welcome include: working on organic farms, any handyperson skills, work as a naturalist/educator, studies/vocation in the healing arts, cooking, other jobs that involve nurturing and caring for animals, plants and people.
