THE ORGANIZATION:
The Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID) is an
international feminist organization working to strengthen the voice,
impact and influence of women's rights advocates, organizations and
movements internationally. AWID has offices in Mexico City, Toronto,
and Cape Town and a full and part-time global staff of over 40.
SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
AWID is seeking a confident and flexible professional who can work in
a dynamic, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment in our Toronto
office, providing administrative oversight, logistical and technical
support for our organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-- Overseeing office management including handling correspondence,
answering telephones, processing e-mail/mail, ordering office
supplies, managing office equipment and handling other administrative
requests as necessary.
-- Providing logistical support for board meetings and board
committee meetings (both conference call and face-to-face meetings),
and other AWID meetings, including our upcoming international Forum
as requested.
-- Coordinating international travel arrangements for staff and
board members.
-- Providing general IT support including set-up and
troubleshooting of printers, phones, computers and Internet.
-- Providing some database, and correspondence support to the
Membership Relations Coordinator and other staff as necessary.
-- Coordinating AWID's volunteer program including recruiting,
supervising and supporting volunteers.
-- Providing general administrative support to the Executive
Director, and program staff as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-- Relevant university degree, college diploma or equivalent.
-- At least 2-3 years experience in a key administrative role.
-- Advanced technical skills in standard office software including
Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with FileMaker an
asset.
-- Skilled in information and communications technologies
including databases, telecommunications, Internet, and digital media.
-- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English
required. Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish and/or French an
asset.
-- Experience with non-profit organizations, preferably
international organizations.
-- Exceptional time management and organizational skills, able to
multitask and handle various projects, and capable of operating
independently with minimal direction.
-- Event planning and coordination skills an asset.
-- Knowledge and interest in women's rights issues.

-- Demonstrate good judgment, common sense, and initiative through
the ability to think ahead, solve problems, recommend and implement
solutions.
-- Have an efficient, thorough and accurate results-oriented
style, capable of quick turnaround of requests.
-- Have an ability to work effectively both independently and as
part of a team.
-- Be able to work well under pressure.
