Description

Slow Food Nation, a subsidiary of Slow Food USA responsible for planning the inaugural Slow Food Nation festival in 2008, is seeking an intern for our San Francisco office. The internship is an excellent opportunity for entry into the food and non-profit sector of both San Francisco and the country. As we are a growing organization, the tasks listed below for the position may vary throughout the internship.

General Tasks and Responsibilities

• Answering phone and e-mail inquiries from members and collaborators
• Organizing and following through with interested people/organizations
• General administration tasks
• Coordinating production of small scale events
• Volunteer coordination
• Handling the tiny details that arise

Qualifications

• Strong interest in gastronomy from an ecological, agricultural and cultural perspective
• Very strong organizational skills
• Competency with the Macintosh, Microsoft Excel and Word (Photoshop and In Design a plus)
• Very good writing abilities
• Innovative problem solver
• Ability to handle a fast-paced environment
• Technical knowledge a plus
• Foreign languages a plus – especially Italian
