For the last 30 years, Corporate Accountability International has successfully challenged corporations like GE, Nestlé, and Philip Morris to halt abusive practices that threaten public health, the environment and our democracy. Think Outside the Bottle, our leading campaign, is currently exposing the truth behind bottled water marketing and defending the basic human right to water in the face of increasing corporate control of the resource. Our ongoing and emerging campaigns also challenge the abuses of major tobacco, food and oil transnationals.
The Researcher is responsible for analyzing and presenting information relevant to Corporate Accountability International’s campaigns, fact-checking, and monitoring corporate abuses with a focus on the water industry. This person maintains an orderly system for the organization’s information, and raises funds to support the campaigns and organization.
Major Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze developments in the public climate, transnational corporations (TNCs) and the water industry.
- Assist in the development of information management and archiving systems.
- Maintain comprehensive, accurate and up-to-date files, records, and systems.
- Conduct analysis and research needed to implement and develop campaign plans.
- Produce written reports, make presentations to staff and board.
- Assist in the drafting, fact-checking and development of campaign materials and press statements.
- Maintain relationships with research contacts within allied organizations.
- Participate in organization-wide planning, fundraising, and campaign activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to corporate accountability, with a global perspective.
- Solid research and investigative skills. Knowledge of corporate campaigns a plus!
- Talented writer and editor.
- Ability to plan and manage several projects at once.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Experience with MS Word, spreadsheets, and databases, and at ease with computers overall.
- Excellent administrative skills.
- Grassroots organizing experience a plus.
Accountability: The Researcher is accountable to Research Director.
Salary Range: $25,000-$30,000 depending on experience, with a generous benefits package.
Location: Campaign Headquarters, Boston.
