The Natural Capital Institute
has an immediate opening for a dedicated and enthusiastic Intern Coordinator. This position is in charge of recruiting, hiring and managing a local and international team of interns/volunteers. This position oversees and develops NCI’s internship program, providing orientation, project management and support.

Position Description/Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility is to provide staff support for the project WiserEarth, a sustainability social networking website launched in April 2007 (www.wiserearth.org). This includes involvement in the project at all levels, from outreach and research to site content and user support. The Intern Coordinator acts as a liaison between the volunteer/intern team and staff, working closely with WiserEarth Director and Staff to discuss progress and opportunities for improvement. This individual should strive to continually strengthen and improve NCI’s internship program as valuable work experience and crucial project support. Applicant should be self-motivated yet excel in a diverse team setting.

Skills/Qualities Required:
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, advanced MS Office skills; strong written/verbal communication, organizational and time management skills; and excellent interpersonal abilities. Preference will be given to individuals with previous experience developing and implementing volunteer programs and supervising staff, especially in a nonprofit environment. A positive, proactive attitude, strong work ethic, cultural sensitivity, sense of humor and a passion for social change are all highly encouraged.

Hours/Compensation:
This is a full-time contract position with benefits. Position is located at our Sausalito office, with office hours Mon-Fri, 8:30-5. Start date is early January.
