About

The Alliance for Climate Education is seeking dynamic, energetic individuals to give presentations on climate change to school age children in Oakland, CA (San Francisco Bay Area). This early-stage nonprofit is developing a national program to help educate elementary, middle and high-school students on the science of how carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions are creating climate changes and practical ways in which the students can help reduce the impact on the environment. We are seeking Educators to work with schools and deliver presentations to students in an assembly format.

The Educators are responsible for setting up school appointments, traveling to area schools, conducting presentations to a group of 200+ students and faculty/administrators, follow-up with schools after presentations, refining/revising program content and working in close collaboration with other staff in realizing the Alliance for Climate Education’s goals and priorities. The Educators will also help develop the program structure and logistics as we expand to offer these assemblies to a national audience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills—dynamic, engaging personality
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Good time management, multi-tasking, detail oriented, self-motivated
  • Comfortable working in a small collaborative team environment
  • Takes pleasure in enabling and supporting others to be effective in their work
  • Ability to make at least a two-year commitment to the position
  • Solid understanding of global climate change and passion about making a difference
  • Teaching experience or other experience working with school age students
