DESCRIPTION:
The United Nations International Research and Training Institute for
the Advancement of Women (UN-INSTRAW) is seeking a qualified
candidate for the position of Project Advisor within the project
"Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 in Liberia,"
with the following objectives:
-- Analyse the needs and capacities of institutions in Liberia to
implement a national action plan on SCR 1325 and gather baseline data
that can be used for monitoring the implementation of the plan.
-- Based on the desk review and assessment, formulate concrete
recommendations and develop training outline based on UN-INSTRAW
guide to National Action Plans on UNSCR 1325.
-- Organize capacity-building seminar for relevant stakeholders on
how to develop a national action plan for the comprehensive
implementation of UNSCR 1325.
-- Prepare a final report that includes the results of the desk
review, assessment process, discussion workshops, and capacity
building seminar with emphasis on concrete recommendations.
PROFILE:
The ideal candidate will have an advanced university degree or
equivalent in political science, international relations, peace or
security studies, or other related field - with a strong focus on
women's/gender studies, 5-7 years of demonstrable work experience on
gender, peace and security issues - with a strong emphasis on work in
post-conflict settings, and preferably some concrete experience in
Liberia.
Fluency in English is required; proficiency in local languages would
be a significant asset.
