Employer: Bean Tree Farm
Job Title: Site Manager (part-time)
Location: Tucson, Arizona
Bean Tree Farm seeks a Site Manager to advance its exciting mission to be a community model of Sonoran Desert development using permaculture ethics and principles. Bean Tree Farm is dedicated to care of earth, care of people, reduction of consumption while reinvesting surplus; to becoming an educational and inspirational resource to other individuals, neighborhoods and communities, and to continual learning and sharing earth-care practices in a spreading nexus of local, environmentally sustainable activity.
Bean Tree Farm --located within the 20 year-old Dancing Rocks Permaculture Community in Tucson, Arizona -- is one knot in a net of local communities incorporating permaculture practices and ideals. Our mission is to educate and inspire more individuals, neighborhoods and communities to become knots in this spreading network. Every knot is an integral part of the larger net of our ecosystem---the land, air and water we all need to sustain life. We are becoming a strong knot in this net, steering our own small watershed toward health, and encouraging others to do the same on their land, from small back yards to multiple acres. Each knot has an effect on the whole when it includes the practice of regenerative technology, such as harvesting rainwater, healing erosion, growing a food garden, and revegetating with native plants to conserve water and restore habitat for native wildlife.
Position
The ideal candidate will have a passionate commitment to permaculture ideals and be looking for a living/working situation with like-minded people to practice, teach and further understanding of this inspiring way of living. The Site Manager will live on the land and develop a routine and rhythm according to the seasons and work that needs to be done. Bean Tree Farm is also launching an educational bed-and-breakfast on the land, and the Site Manager may become the manager of that business, with profit-sharing opportunities.
