I agree - this user experience can be improved, however, I think there is some sort of technical limitation that is preventing this feature from being added. Honore, can you help?

I hope we can work together.

I have read much of what you have written.  I will comment on the debate after I ask for some advice. A friend and duplex neighbor took in a wild mutt puppy in April.

The dog has the following problem behaviors: 1) defensive, jumping and snapping(a little). 2) tearing up his carpeting and eating plastic. 3) crapping in the house.  Some of those are more than one problem.

Umm, I have an Amer. Rottweiller that works hard to keep him in his place.

My friend is not buying the dog treats or bones, no cage to keep him in while the owner is away, he is finally stopping letting the dog jump on him and chew his hand, his roommate/brother parks a chair in the dog's tie out/kennel area and hugs, kisses, lets jump on him for an hour a day.

I've given lectures to them on caring for animals.  I've told him he's being an a--hole because he's destroying his friends apartment and motivating me to be such a stern jerk to him so often.  Typical conversation, "Hi how you doing?  So did you walk Bode today
?" "Don't let Bode jump up on you?" "So when are you going to kill Bode before or after he bites your nephew's face?" "Hey! man how can you just say I'm going to have to pay for the carpeting?  You don't have any money?  How about working on cleaning it and remembering the effort that it takes to clean it when you don't care whether or not Bode has been let within twenty minutes of eating?" "Remember man you're saving Bode's life by training him"

O.k.  Now please give me some serious advice.

Incidentally, that is what Socrates was also known for by his other biographer.  He wasn't only asking about justice and such he also could give advice about how select good stock.  On some of the earlier posts someone suggested that you read "The tragedy of the commons" this is a slanderous paper.  The writer does not take into account the fact that societies that have commons also had a rotating commons manager that forbade one person grazing too many livestock on the commons.  The commons needs to come back.
Here in Moline Illinois we have the stupid John Deere commons which is just a patio for an expensive restaurant with a big tractor on it.

Also, relating to Ahimsa and the negation of violence term.  Some existential philosopher (I cannot remember whom) thought it was significant that infinite is the not finite.  Kind of a fun idea to kick around.  Ahimsa came from a people that were extremely ritually violent and raiding.  The settled and merchant class were looking for a way to have ritual blessing of the Gods without the raiding and moving.  Source: The Great Transformation by Karen Armstrong.

P.S. I live near a large high school.  If you recommend just letting the dog go, after all that is how my friend befriended the puppy, then when should he be released?  Should he be fed?

While we are about data portability, have Wiser Earth team considered making the data base available as Linked Data, e.g. making people and organisations profile in FOAF? With maybe a "Wiser FOAF" extension. If needed, I can help with the definition of such an extension.

One of the difficulties in the contemporary christian church with environmental thinking is the basis of the teachings the church offers.  The churches tend to give a party for Jesus and a moment of ecstatic relation.  Then the ceremony ends and everyone drives to the mall, buys a pizza and watches football.  There needs to be more social justice instruction.  I do not attend christian church services anymore because it is a multimedia ecstatic event and I cannot keep my mouth shut when I'm there.  I feel that the hypocrits will not listen so I stay away.  This is a problem because I am missing a great opprotunity to motivate people to environmental awareness.  Just some thoughts.....

Now that four months has passed, how's this coming up Honore? Has this been ticketed?

How about adding the following line below the "Results 1 to 15 of 16667 users." in the browse people page:

See # of contributions for the last 7 days, last 30 days, last 3 months, last 6 months, and last 12 months.

(Note: 3 months = 90 days, 6 months = 180 days, and last 12 months = 365 days)

For the detais of contributions made, add a link beside text in "Last activity" column that says (details) and link to the appropriate section in the user profile's View Your Personal Activity Report in the Activity Reports tab. This would turn the stat for each user to look like:

Avatar with Full name (username), # of edits / additions / comments, last activity (details), Registration date

Yep. A widget of some kind would be nice. When will WE allow widgets?

I understand enabling widgets would be laden with security issues. A blog host I used a while ago didn't allow widgets for the same reason, but then they decide to use a widget hosting service widgetbox.com to somehow enable widgets and prevent compromise to their security standards. Here are two more alternatives:

- www.yourminis.com (has API libraries. Can put widgets on the desktop too)

- www.clearspring.com (has API libraries and better documentation than widgetbox)

Wonder if there's a good polling widget in hosted in those sites. Anyone care to look it up?

Good thinking! I definitely needed as connections between entities grow to an overwhelming level.

Having the map as default sounds good, but I would opt still for the text based network connections because loading the map is quite heavy for someone with a slow internet connection. Perhaps a mini snapshot image (jpeg or png) of the flash-based map would be lighter and better? The snapshot should ofcourse be linked to the full flash-based map view.

I'm thinking of adding "Print this page" link in the "Actions box" that automatically present a version of the page for printing, and then sends an instruction to the browser to print the page.

The send via email feature should be resolved by the Rapid sharing widget (suggested here)

Related suggestion that seems to be solved with threaded discussion: Title and Link for Comments
Sm_avatar
A similar suggestion to this one is Threaded discussions (+3 at present).
Sm_avatar

My vote for this as I've experienced the trouble of navigating a long discussion and identifying the sub-topics. Would be great to have a threaded discussions, especially in groups as Angus mentioned, where there will be many people.

I've also created another suggestion page for the ability to reply to discussion from email (suggested by Benjammin): Ability to subscribe to discussions via email, and reply to discussions from email

More vote/elaboration for this suggestion anyone?

This suggestion no longer applies since the lingering-on-top-of-every-page group banner issue has been resolved by adding a pop-up group icon above the navigation links. I'm marking the title of the suggestion with "Obsolete"

Edited the title from +2 to +1 to comply with the latest convention (the +n indicates how many other users supporting the suggestion). Also posting this comment to resurface the suggestion.
