About

"Greater than the Sum of its Parts"

On November 16-18, 2008, vision stewards, thought leaders and technologists united to set the collective vision, subject matter, strategy, criteria and policy making foundation for The Global Summit (TGS) 2010 and beyond.  Proposed dates for TGS 2010 are Nov. 7-11 (including welcome receptions, 3 day conference, and Closing Concert on the 11th).

While a powerful initiative on its own, The Global Summit is the catalyst for a synergistic, three part operating system evolving through global sustainability organization, Empowerment Works! (EW) since 2001.

This global operating system is comprised of three core program areas:

A)    Seven Stages to Sustainability (7SS) Multi-sector collaboration education

B)    Partners In Empowerment™ (PIE) membership forum & 1PIE.org

C)    The Global Summit™ (TGS) - social, economic, and environmental forum

A) Seven Stages to Sustainability (7SS)

Launching as a curriculum, Fall 2009 in China through the World Academy for the Future of Women, Empowerment Works' 7 Stage Approach provides a collaborative framework for locally-led program development, honoring indigenous assets, and the self-determination of those most affected by issues being addressed.

These locally adaptable stages comprise the central operating system of 1PIE.org, facilitating global transfer of knowledge and appropriate technologies to empower local communities to address what is needed most.

B) Partners In Empowerment (PIE) & 1PIE.org

Whether a media group leads a cause-based marketing campaign to stop AIDS, a university creates greener technology, or an artist inspires a child in need, social, economic, and environmental impact is deepened through collaboration of diverse social and economic sectors.

Partners in Empowerment (PIE) is a “global values” based membership network embracing local solutions for a sustainable world.

Comprised of Social Entrepreneurs, Collaborating Non-profits, Educational Institutions, Sustainable Businesses, Responsible Media Groups and Artists in Action, Empowerment Works Partners in Empowerment™ understand, that by bringing the best of our resources and ideas to the table, we build a better world for humanity.

1PIE.org is the vehicle that harnesses the expertise and resources of this ecologically inspired participatory network to promote community-based solutions.

C) The Global Summit (TGS)

With four live sub-events engaging all PIE sectors in synergy, and supported year round by 1PIE.org, The Global Summit is the awareness raising event and catalyst for critical mass public participation.

The 4 core elements of The Global Summit are being developed by members and partner organizations on-line and off-line. Its initial planning symposium was held in San Francisco, Nov. 16-18, 2008, in preparation for The Global Summit to be held in Los Angeles, Nov. 7-11th, 2010.
