Agenda
JUST/GREEN FUNDERS
Meeting, June 25, 2008
Wallace Global Fund
Purpose: To provide space for a funder dialog on poverty, justice and climate
Method: Each participant takes responsibility for facilitating one segment of the conversation
Agenda:
8:30 Arrivals, continental breakfast
9:00 Welcome and Introductions
9:15 Definitions: What is just/green? How do we define the scope of the concept and the conversation?
10:00 Intersections: What other leaders and communities (e.g. EJ, Human Rights, social justice, health, faith, civil rights etc. ) need to be brought in to the conversation?
11:00 Policy Solutions: If regulation/cap & trade are not sufficient, what else do we want to consider?
12:00 How does the U.S. work connect to global solutions?
12:30 Lunch
1:00 Mapping the field – who’s funding what, where? Presentation of Wiser Earth map of organizations supporting local efforts. Who are our funder allies?
2:00 Core Principles – what are the key elements of a just/green approach to public policy?
3:00 Nuts & Bolts – Is rhetorical success ahead of actual accomplishment? Where are the gaps? Where are the best models being developed?
3:30 Next steps
Guiding questions:
- What defines the group of funders?
- What's the common agenda when we think about equitable pathways to sustainability
- Who's doing what, where and with whom?
- Do we have a common focus?
- How to make the case for equity and to whom?:
