About

This group came about as a desire to share the stoke of surfing while providing sustainable assistance to communities in need in the form of Permaculture Design.  The primary ecological focus is to help communities create a secure water and food supply.  The primary geographical focus is Latin America.

The fact that over two-thirds of the world is lacking clean water and a secure food supply is the motivating issue behind this group.  Providing a clean water supply is the easiest way to alleviate many contagious diseases.

The goal is to visit coastal areas that are affected by the international surfing community and provide REAL assistance to the people so that they may rise above the limitations of a short sighted global market.

A traveling group of surfers will visit coastal areas and provide financial, technical, and physical assistance to local communities with projects related to sustainable development.  Permaculture Design courses will be taught free of charge and a project that supplies a real need will be implemented in that community; for example dry composting toilets to keep sewage out of the water supply.

Education is a cornerstone of this project.  Sustainable behavior will be fostered through the use of social marketing techniques.  The goal is to create a long lasting effect on communities by setting up local sustainability action networks, that continue to provide assistance and education after our caravan has left.  By changing our behavior we can change the world.

This Organization is still in its early stages, so any thoughts about potential projects and areas in need would be appreciated!
