www.huon.org. The Huon Valley Environment Centre is situated in Huonville, 40 minutes south of Hobart, the capital of Tasmania.
We are a not-for-profit, volunteer run organisation who promote sustainable living in the Huon Valley, as well as providing information about local, national and international environmental issues.
We have an eco-shop, campaign office, library, workshop space and organic gardens.
The mighty Huon River flows behind us, having travelled from the deep wilderness of the protected South West Wilderness, and the threatened Southern Forests.
We support and promote direct action campaigns in the Southern Forests that aim to highlight the ongoing destruction of our precious native forests by government and big corporations.
We also regularly hold community events such as bush dances, movie nights, community meetings, the Cygnet Herb, Health & Organic Expo, and exhibitions run by our Black Sassy Artists Collective.
