About
How can the internet change the way people do research? Several organizations have attempted to develop web-based systems for collaborative research, but most are expensive, proprietary, and focus on some esoteric area of knowledge. WiserEarth, on the other hand, is free and open, and addresses the largest movement in history: social and environmental restoration. It is also extremely robust and scalable- beyond the mere repository capabilities of a wiki- with tools constantly being added and improved.
This group will serve as a testing ground for collaborative research on WiserEarth. Using the tools here, I will solicit ideas for a research project (on energy economics, technology, and policy) and work with collaborators to develop this project from concept to finished product. Along the way, we will document the process and evaluate presently available tools to determine how to improve online collaborative research.
