Let’s tell you what we have done so far!
First, we made a decision that anybody can get involved with ecoinfo.tv and use the website to find out more about environmental issues, the organizations and individuals that make up the environmental movement.
Then we talked about wanting to build our concept around a driving force, so we visited several University campuses and talked to the students about our ideas for a website for debate and what they would find interesting as content. The feed back suggested that most University’s had a core group of students that tried to raise awareness through events on campus but they were short of funds and equipment. With this in mind, we started developing an outreach program and with the help of our sponsors and information gained from the site, we will provide a mobile display system that can tour campuses and help them promote the issues. It was also obvious to us that there was great interest in the opportunity to debate issues on campus. So in partnership with the Universities we hope to host debates and invite key speakers from government, environmental NGO’s and the business community.
Since the day we first came up with the concept for ecoinfo.tv, we were determined to keep it informative, positive and entertaining. And the list of subjects for site content has continued to grow, but the very first inclusion had to be NGO’s. When we approached them we received an enthusiastic response and many of the countries leading NGO’s can now be seen on the site. So we weren’t surprised when others also showed an interest, but the commitment of areas such as Ethical Fashion and Music was quite overwhelming. Most weeks we sit down and talk about another subject to include on our ever expanding website.’
June 2009, – Well the past couple of months have been very busy and productive for all of us at ecoinfo.Film Page
Our web wizards have been tinkering away at the inner workings of
the film page and say it’s near completion. They say it’s going to look fab!
I don't understand the tech stuff myself so I won’t bore you with that. What I do know is when it’s finished you will be able to view footage on issues from around the world, from a host of campaigners.
Social Networks
We’ve set up group pages on Face book and Wiser Earth so we can all spread the word about ecoinfo. Later in the summer we’ll set up a group page on Myspace. So please take a look and join the groups, tell your friends and post your thoughts and ideas. Also, if you know of any suitable networks where we can set up a group, please drop us a line.
Inter-governmental Organisations.
If you take a look at our IGO page you can see the first set for
you to explore. It’s been very interesting researching this section
because of the diversity of organisations and the feeling that they provide
a real backbone for conservation efforts on the ground. They are a different beast to NGO’s and seem to come at issues from a different angle which can sometimes provides an alternative process.
CSR
We have put out feelers to the corporate world to find examples
of responsible business in action. The area of CSR is an extensive one, and covers every aspect of a companies operation on a national or global arena. Because of this, it’s not always easy to define a companies CSR policy, so we will be focusing on environmental impact and the measures being taken to make practises as sustainable as possible.
If you know of, or are a company that feel you would like to feature on this page please email us your details at, contact@ecoinfo.tv
Wildlife Artists
Well by now you know here at ecoinfo we love a party. We keep getting
invited to them, which of course is a tough job but for the sake of the
planet we are endeavouring to persevere. One such prestigious bash we attended in June and what better time for Ecoinfo to introduce our Wildlife Artist section, than after attending the 2009 Wildlife Artist of the year competition. This years venue was the Mall galleries in the heart of London and as you might expect, was packed full of artists, conservationists, celebrities and art lovers.
To begin the evening Sir Michael Parkinson and David Gower OBE, both strong supporters of wildlife conservation, gave introductory talks. Before the iconic David Shepherd joined them onstage to announce this year’s category and overall winners. Pamela Conder took the first prize for her work entitled, ‘Chimpanzees reflections on ageing’.

We’ll give you a brief introduction and links to their websites where you can find out more about them and maybe start collecting some of their work. It’s safe to say this year’s event was a great success with a tremendous amount of enthusiasm shown by all who attended. It was a unique opportunity to meet like minded people and I know we came away with many contacts for the future. We’re looking forward to next year’s creative showcase already.Find out more visit www.ecoinfo.tv wildlife artists.
