Our mission:
Sustainable Economic Development cannot be achieved without a multi-faceted approach to our world's socio-economic and environmental problems. Each of us has our specialties, and it's going to take all of us to get there.
Initially, my contributions to this site will in large part be the results of my research in the Solar Thermal field, but my hope is for it to become a resource and sharing space for others navigating the frontiers of sustainability as it crosses the borders of technology, economics, politics, particle physics, conservation biology, and fields yet unknown.
Cheers, and happy reading!

The founder of LA nonprofit TreePeople describes how he and a group of dedicated community activists, engineers, ecologists and management experts helped to link together agencies, manage and harvest stormwater, and solve flooding problems by REMOVING concrete, not adding more. A great model for action, it shows how change takes time as well as dedication and belief.
Hans Roslin, cofounder of the Swedish branch of Doctors Without Borders, shares his insights about poverty and "development" gaps via what must be some of the world's most innovative, eye-catching statistical analysis. It will turn a lot of common develoment myths on their head. And his software is free! (for those of you who deal with statistics daily, as I do.) This is one of many TED talks worthy of our time.
From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff
in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this
is hidden from view.
The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced,
fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption
patterns.
The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge
number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to
create a more sustainable and just world. It'll teach you something,
it'll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all
the stuff in your life forever.
