Student Transportation Impact
Using the various information sources we have at hand, I have estimated the following carbon emissions from student transportation in a typical week.
- Number of solo car trips per week: Approximately 25,000
- Average number of miles driven (round trip): 16.50
- Number of miles driven per week: 412,500
- Average Miles Per Gallon: 22.5
- Total gallons used per week: 18,333
Total lbs. of CO2 emitted per week from student solo car trips*: 362,993 lbs (181.5 tons)
*using 19.8 lbs of CO2 per gallon
