WiserEarth Area of Focus Editors

WiserEarth includes the largest, free, publicly-editable directory of Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the world.

It is organized by nearly 400 areas of focus (AoF), which have been created to provide a comprehensive categorization or taxonomy of all the different areas of activity relating to the environmental and social justice fields. Each area of focus has its own set of portal pages (like a mini-website).

WiserEarth needs volunteers to become Area of Focus editors. You may be able to offer 1/2 an hour per month or 10 hours a week of editing time - it doesn't matter. Any and all contributions are welcome as long as your edits help to improve the AoF content for the community. 

Are you interested in becoming an Area of Focus (AoF) Editor? Read more about what it means to be an (AoF) Editor and Browse the Areas of Focus, and then check for AoF already being edited and those yet to be looked after. If needed, then create a sub-group of this group to become an editor for one or more related AoF you're interested in.

If the AoF you want to edit is already being edited by a group, you may want to join that group instead of creating a new one. If you want your group to edit that AoF too, add your group to the list of AOF editors on the page provided.

Either way, you can start to build a sub-group, or your own group, around one or more AoF. Some pointers on how to do so:

• invite users with similar areas of focus
• aggregate and help improve WiserEarth content relating to that AoFs.
• encourage the addition of new content to WiserEarth database relating to that AoF
• start a discussion on how you would like to improve the AoF portal your group is editing
• add the AoF portal page you're editing to your watchlist to monitor edits and comments.
