Great work with the personal dashboard. Like Friend Feed a lot!

Hi All
I like the dashboard a lot. Makes it really easy to see what is going on with friends at a glance and the people you may know option and what's new in WE are also good to see. Shows things I might not have thought to go and look for. Are they selected because of the AOF selected in my profile, or are they random?
I'd really like some way to send mail to one or all of my friends without having to go to their profile and click - send a message. Any chance of making that an option in the inbox, say a create mail option? Not all my frienda rea in the same group, but often there are things that they all might be interested in hearing about?

@Celeste: Glad you like it. As to your questions:
Yes, the 'What's new on WE' is filtered based on your areas of focus - it's not random. In the future we hope to make this module show more 'recommended' content rather than what's the latest on WE.
As for emailing your friends, that's definitely on the 'to do' list as many people have asked for it. But you can imagine the to do list is rather long. Perhaps that will be implemented in the next 3-6 months.

Hi Bowo,
We left out the hyperlinking of people's names for the Friend Feed due to a system limitation - it goes back to the way our database is set up, so we'd have to change some tables before we could have the real names linked. So we'll hold off till a later time to add it as an enhancement. Same with the See All link - we figured we just wanted to give a quick overview for now, see how people take to it, before we offered a deeper look into it.

Absolutely agree with you too - we've been putting an email composition feature on the project queue for awhile now, so we should get around to it hopefully in the next 3 months or so. As Angus mentioned, the "What's New" module is still a fairly new feature we're experimenting around with. In time, it's planned to adapt itself more and more to your AoFs, your keyword preferences, and other filters you have set up. There is a "change your preferences" setting for the What's New module, but it isn't currently active yet (we'll turn it on after testing it a bit at a later time). We'll post a notification on the dashboard as we upgrade and enhance these features!

One more feedback. Sometimes, the message lightbox failed to load on my Firefox 3.0.7 (winxp). Clicked but no pop-up. Reloading page indicates that the click did not register (message still highlighted). After reloading though, clicking message brings up the lightbox ok.

'What's New of WiserEarth' module takes a long time to load - because its doing the search live - would be far better to cache a recommended content list and make that the default. Then loading won't be affected and the oage won't look 'slow'.

Another small one: Change text from "Inbox" to "Messages"? We have an Inbox tab on top-right consisting of Messages, Invitations and Watchlist Alerts. So, in dashboard, it should be "Messages" to add a little bit more consistency to the language used through out the site. |

There's a message that won't open on my message inbox. It has no title. Prior to dashboard implementation though, no problem on opening untitled messages. Clicking doesn't pop-up the lightbox. And reloading the inbox page indicates that my click didn't register (message still highlighted). Bug?

If we add a bunch of tabs in the Dashboard Inbox (Messages, Sent Messages, Invitations and Watchlist) it would once again be appropriate to call it the 'Inbox' so if we are going to do that we should keep the name as is.

@Angus: Yes, that'll do.
Another one: There's no indication that a reply was successfully sent. I received three exactly same messages today from a friend and have to sometime check my "Sent messages" page just to make sure that an important reply was successfully sent. Add a visual cue? (the usual u-shaped arrow in front of replied messages?) |

The green background for a new message is inconsistent with the general WiserEarth notfication system:
Green - action approved / accepted Red - action failed / rejected Yellow - notice
Given that color scheme above shouldn't new email have a Yellow background? Or maybe something even more neutral? |

Not sure if this is the right venue to post this comment, but here goes...
Great job with the new dashboard, I am in process of familiarizing myself with all that it has to offer.
One problem that I am encountering since its implimentation, however, is that the wiserearth website is failing to recognize my username and password. Two things that I have done so far are:
1. chosen the option provided by wiserearth to 'remember me' - this fails to remember me...
2. chosen the option provided by my browser, firefox, to 'remember password/user' - this fails as well...
I am unclear about what to try next ??? |

There maybe some quirks on that area. As you can see, we're experimenting having the sign-in fields on the page header (instead of just a link to a sign-in page like before) and that may have something to do with the failure to 'remember' username/password. Thanks for reporting this and sorry for the inconvenience Jay. Hope to fix this soon and in the mean time, can you bear with us by manually entering your info every time?

@jbender008: Yes, seems like the password remembering feature is broken with latest upgrade of the code. I'll make sure we are on it.

When I try to use any of the features on the site, I'm asked to confirm my e-mail address. I have done this 5 times but received no confirmation e-mail (yes - I checked my junk mail as well). Any suggestions?
