Hi! Bridget here from Trash Mash-Up. I have been in contact with Tori about Trash Mash-Up being at The Big One on Sat June 21 from 11-1pm. She mentioned that she would try to have a table and chairs for us.
Trash Mash-Up is a community art project. Using disposable materials, collected before they enter the waste stream, participants construct "Maskostumes" which are original pageant masks and costumes inspired by traditions from around the world. This project reduces waste and inspires people to see each other and our environment in a new way. TMU hosts Mash-Up Bashes, which are public performance pageants. This new urban tradition enhances the importance of recycling and cultural diversity through a community celebration. Transforming parks and city squares with a visual spectacle made of music, movement, and "Maskostumes", spectators enjoy works of art created from things discarded by one person and given new life through another's imagination. With trash bag-boas and bottle-cap chain mail, Trash Mash-Up and the Mash-Up Bash creates creative connections and raises environmental awareness throughout our community as we connect our creative traditions to our collective future. TMU's workshop at the BIG ONE will focus on creative reuse for plastic bags. For more information, go to http://trashmashup.googlepages.com
