I found out about Earth Hour only one hour prior, but I decided - without hesitation - to do it. My partner and I shut down the computer and the lights at exactly 8pm and stepped into the kitchen to begin making dinner. I lit a bunch of candles and we both worked to prepare our meal together. We did cheat a bit by hooking up the battery powered iPod to our very small stereo (using a minimal amount of energy). We drank wine, ate one of the best versions of curry chicken I've made in a while, talked and danced around the kitchen well past 9pm, the end time for Earth Hour. It was a wonderful way to show respect for our Mother, and to spend some quality time together. I want to try to power-down every Saturday night!
