Greening the Concert Experience for DubConscious Fans

I met Kelsang, Melinda, and Peggy at the US Social Forum last year and have thought about the relationship between Wiser Earth and my band DubConscious (www.dubconscious.com) consistently ever since.    The goal here is to create an active online community of people that will be able to set up carpools, help recycle at the venues, get local groups involved a ...learn more

What is that people want to experience at a Dub Conscious event (besides the band and their friends)?

How would a group or action best be communicated to an audience? Video? Tabling? Leaflets?

How would a group or action benefit from a Dub concert?

How to best communicate? You may not have to be too preachy but just having a way that people that buy into the vibe can connect to get e-mail, or connect to a local organization would be a way to have lasting effect. What if all relevant local groups were around at your shows where they could interact with listeners who chose to do so but then really important would be to connect them into local grassroot organizations already sharing the work.

I'd like to see Recycling at Venues encouraged and rewarded, carpooling encouraged and rewarded, Video PSA's and group discussions on certain key events related to the local community, voter registration, and all things mentioned below by Ric Chambers aka Soulworker. I'd like to see a constant Wiser Earth presence to make sure that the worlds stay connected. Through DubConscious community we can monitor the growth in certain regions and really develop strong initiatives with this concept based on grassroots involvement. I think so many music fans will grab on to this side of the event that it will need Wiser Earth to really be an anchor of connectivity in my opinion. so glad this site exists.

I think the rewards for particpation may work, but would need to be appropriate for the audience. For example, Radiohead lets patrons that use public transit to commute to a show get in an hour earlier than others that drive. Also, at Echo Project we hosted a panel conversation regarding the threats to the Chattahoochee, while distributing Sweetwater beer made from the river. I consider these appropriate incentives.
