What are the things we all can do right now right here as we speak to save the earth?

What I try to do is reuse as much stuff as possible. Instead of using the plastic grocery bags I use a carrying bag. I don't usually get many things at the grocery store so I just need one bag. Cardboard I try to use in class projects and when I become a science teacher the students will reuse cardboard, too. I recycle cans and get 5 cents each can at the redemption center. In the summer I am going to make my own garden with vegetables so that I can bring them to get used by my school's cafe.

These are just a few things to help. How about you? What do you do?

I am a big fan of recycling and buying local products, as I believe the impact of food transportation equals to some of the greatest waste of resources and carbon emissions.

It is a point of near contention in my household even: all things go into the compost or chicken food bin that can and all plastic gets recycled, I even eat the heels of the bread no one else eats. I try to provide scraps to my friend's chickens, and in return I get fresh eggs. We use the horse manure to fertilize my garden, and everything in the garden gets composted back into the ground at the end of the year. We only use plastic bags for cat litter, and I try to bike everywhere in my town. The most recent thing we're trying to do is get our beef from the local farm I've been working at. Not only do we cut down on transportation of the meat, but I know exactly where the meat came from and that that animal has lived a full and happy life.

Peaces,

Helena
