I guess it would be to design waste out of economics. To create wealth from waste rather than the the way around. It would be a nice way to combine ecological and economic recovery and could go for reversing climate instability along the way since emissions are just one symptom of the wider waste glitch. 

The credit crunch is a moment of opportunity when people can see that the old ways weren't so wonderful after all. It's a time for new thinking and practices. Anyway, here's a suggestion for how to go about it, From credit crunch to planet crunch - or revival? that was presented last month at a Middle East Summit. 

If you're in the mood for fixing waste and other global problems even faster there is a bigger bunch of suggestions, Seven Policy Switches for Global Security that was presented last week at a NATO Science meeting.
