hello beautiful people. i hope that everyone is enjoying their summer. I'm posting because i had called for some help recently with the first 5 garden and that garden date was moved last minute. i should have posted this sooner, but i didn't recieve any response so i assumed that it wasn't a big deal. now it has changed to this and saturday we will need some helping hands in laying down sheet covering (card board) and mulch. it shouldn't be that big a deal but we only have a few hours to do it and the more help the better.
If you don't know what first 5 is about let me clue you in. First 5 provides many things for families with children in their frst 5 years of life with money that is provided from cigarette taxes and grants. They teach classes for parents and children as well as giving free counseling, swimming lessons, all kinds of stuff. they have helped my family and many more in the community (and all over southern california). This is why i'm so passionate about giving back to them. plus! this will be a place where children can learn about biology, sensory perception, get into eating fruits and veggies, environmental resposibility and so much more. This garden is shared with the students of will rogers elementary so this garden will serve a great purpose for many children and families beyond first 5 as well.
okay so now that has been said, let me tell you what we need:
cardboard boxes
trucks for hauling mulch
wheel barrels
shovels
helping hands
playing with children
food to snack on
oh and i forgot to mention there will be youngins present and we are trying to provide fun acitivites such as painting for their amusement.
