I created a new group yesterday which became orphaned by virtue of the fact that it did not add me as a member and showed the number of members as 0. This means I cannot administer the group, nor can anyone be invited into it. Responses from the Wiser help crew indicated that after the initial group information screen, I should have been presented with another form to upload a logo for the group, but it never got that far, and I've been asked to post my experience here as a bug.

Here's the detail on my OS and browser:

Browser and Version: IE v. 7.0.5730.11IS
OS: Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 SP2

Hope that helps.

One more request...can someone at WE please remove the group titled "Momentum 2008" which has 0 members? Since I can't administer it, I can't remove it myself, and now that I have a functioning one with the same name (please don't remove THAT one!) it will be confusing for our invitees to see two of them on the list. Thanks!

Hey, all:

Hey, Erika: Well, getting an administrator for the site will be a little slower on the weekend, but a search turns up both groups, and it is pretty clear which is the one to be removed.

In the meantime, do you really intend membership in your group to be by "Invitation Only"? I applaud the principles you write about in the introduction, but that openness and inclusiveness contradicts with the exclusivity of "Invitation Only". As such, given the principles I would like to join, but given the mechanism, I would not be able to, nor would I want to. And this is the contradiction in action--see what I mean?

I am sure the extra group will not be a problem, and it will be removed soon, as well. Good Success!

Hi David,

Thanks for your response and interest. The group is invitation only because my organization (Tides) is experimenting with this platform as a networking and community-building utility around a conference we will be running in July, which is also an invitation-only conference, and we want to be able to have people enter a space that belongs to that community. It's not meant to be exclusive, but rather intentional. Ideally, I would like to use the open-source version of the Wiser platform when it becomes available, but that won't be ready for at least another month. In the meantime, if this fits our needs, we will at least be drawing a few hundred people into WiserEarth whose interests align with most others in this great space, and I'm sure many other groups and discussions will appear in the public space as a result.
Cheers,
Erika

Hi Erika,

I've removed the first Momentum 2008 group that you created. Sorry about the problems that you had with it. I'll look into why you weren't added as a member automatically.

Thanks,
Arash
