What I got out of it is that food miles are not as relevant as food choices when it comes to eating meat & dairy foods. You can make far greater reductions in carbon emissions by eating lower on the food chain than by eating local.  However, for folks that already have vegan or vegetarian diets, then food miles do matter and eating local strawberries has less impact than those watermellons from Mexico.
