Thanks to Georges for starting up this discussion!
I've been heavily annoyed by the Yahoo Group this year, not because of usability or content, but because everytime I want to connect with my colleagues I end up learning about Lindsay Lohan's newest haircut or some other inane celebrity fact. On my way to THIS forum, I learned about a wicked org called 'Artists Without Borders' that is doing some cool stuff.
I'm not entirely sure that WiserEarth will meet all of our needs right away, but I hope that it will grow with our network. Surely, it at least constitutes a step in the right direction. |

Hey there! Thanks so much George for organizing this! I have uploaded my thesis and I will try and figure out how to upload some pretty heavy folders .. its more than 50MB.. I will figure it out!

yeah, seems like the file size might be a limiting factor for this forum - one of the things that people have again and again asked for a is a place where we can host and share all of the "good stuff" - articles, presentations, papers, etc that we have and share, but then get filed away w/ emails, and can get lost, etc. maybe for the big stuff we'll have to just post links here, to the resources hosted where ever they exist - so for a big pdf from WRI for example, we just link to the WRI site instead of uploading the pdf... ?

Another quesiton... we've recieved a couple of requests from "outsiders" - i.e. people that are not MSLS alums - to join this group. Should we do so? I realized after that the description of the stratleade network includes "businesses and other organizaitons" etc.... which was intended to mean that businesses that donate to the program or partner on thesis projects, sponsor k-town dialogues, etc- but it's basically impossible to keep track of that and not allow in other interested parties and orgs... so:
Should we open this up to anyone and everyone who's interested, or keep it as a "safe space" for MSLSers to re-enter the bubble from time to time?? |

Hey George- Thanks so much for your organizing energy here! Although I'm all for connecting our alumni group with other orgs&initiatives, this is a great space for the group. Let's keep it going...and link it up to the toolbox for larger file uploads, LinkedIn groups, and other alumni initiatives as we go...
thanks again! cheers- Molly |

For year's now MSLS students and grads have been looking for the best ways to stay connected, share info, and work together to create a sustainable society. The Yahoo group has served us well to some extent, but many have complained that it's not that user friendly beyond the email list we use to stay in touch.
Andre from this year's class and others have worked to set up a wiki on the BTH site to help fill this need, you can check it out here: http://msls.tek.bth.se/toolbox/index.php/Main_Page
The main issue is that we know at some point we'll outgrow the space we can use on the BTH server.
We've also need to consider the social-networking fatigue we can all feel by having too many registrations, links, profile pictures, pithy quotes, etc...
So the question is, will this group on wiserearth serve our need enough that we should really make a push to get all alums on board and engaged?
