The well known concept "The Tragedy of the Commons" tells us that when we share a common resource, we destroy it. A group of farmers sharing a common grazing ground, will over graze it and destroy it. If one person owned the field, he or she would take care of it, grazing only as many animals as the field can support. We are destroying the Earth because of careless overuse as well, also a result of "The Tragedy of the Commons".

If one entity owned the Earth, we wouldn't have that problem. If all people were connected as one gigantic entity, a connected society, we wouldn't have that problem. We would take care of the Earth.

The Earth can comfortably support 100 times its current population. The problem is not population, the problem is we don't care. Our society makes us destroy it. Oil is "cheap", is our only consideration.

There are basically two types of societies. Connected society and disconnected society.

Capitalism is disconnected, every man for himself society. Capitalism promotes selfishness. You are rewarded for being selfish. It is reward training at work. The more greedy you are, the more money you make.

Capitalism does have the huge advantage of allowing individual decision power.

The other type of society, used in shared income intentional communities, is connected. It promotes caring for others and collaboration, also often called "love".

Past attempts to create that form of society have resulted in lack of individual decision power.

Individual decision power is extremely important. It is the difference between one entity doing the thinking, and millions of brains doing the thinking. It is the difference between rich and poor in a society, or prosperous and suffering.

Consider what I said there, "one entity doing the thinking". I used the term "entity", because I'm not talking about one individual. You can have one hundred people voting on something, direct democracy, and what you have is one "entity" doing the thinking. One decision will be made with each vote. A very slow process.

Now, take those one hundred people, and allow each of them to make decisions individually, and you have one hundred brains doing the thinking. A very fast process, very intelligent, simulating the process we have in our brains, where each person represents a single neuron in a larger brain.

This results in an intelligent society. Intelligent societies are able to solve all problems that come up.

Ants have this type of society, and they out number humans a million to one, yet ants are not considered a threat to the Earth's environment.

Ants can do several forms of agriculture, which shows their society is much more intelligent than each individual ant.

Hi Tony,
I respect what yo uare saying, but I must disagree with it in whole.
Prior to the Europeans invasion of what is now known as North America, The land here was used in common use. All things were protected. The destruction we see now did not begin until a government was developed which practiced Imminent Domain and Manifest Destiny.

I believe it is not as much what is being done that is the problem, but how it is being done.

The concept of one worl government is not a new one. It is however not a very desirable one for anyone other than those who are in charge.

The continued Genocide of First Nations People in North America is evidence of this.

The whole world under the control of one government would only be a perfect world if the government was perfect.

Government policy is the greates cause of destruction to our earth today. It is not the people who are grazing their cows in the pasture that are the problem. It is hte people who are dumping their garbage in the pasture with government sanctions.

Just my honest opinion.

With Respect,

Jim
