Hi Mark,

Yes. That's possible. But not on all modules and not on all groups.

The "Bulletin Board" module:

  • in 'Public' groups can be edited by any WE member (not necessarily need to be that group's member)
  • in 'Semi-private' and 'Private' groups can be edited only by group members

Other modules remains relatively un-editable/un-modifiable by non-group-members. As for pages, so long as there's no access restriction (can be set upon page creation, limited to certain groups), it will be editable by all WE member.

So in a way, WiserEarth is a giant wiki, not too unlike Wikipedia, where almost any page can be edited by any WE member, except specified otherwise. This is to facilitate collaborative editing of pages in the hope of improving their content and quality overtime. If you or anyone find abusive editing / vandalism, the edit is reversible by going to the page's history and reverting to earlier version. If any group member do such things and you're the admin, you can cancel their membership and ban them from ever joining the group again.

So, it's like "open-wide for collaboration" with some locks and blockages when needed.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions or concerns.

I was recently reading other group home pages and noticed that I was able to edit their postings and info while signed in to my account.  Is there a setting that will turn that feature off?  Would I or someone else be able to edit another WiserEarth home page wile signed in.

Thanks,

M
