Actually I just changed it to open for anyone. This way people won't have to wait to get started and anyone wanting to join is either from our community or an interested party anyway. I don't see this as the final setting. The other thing I think we should talk about is any changes to our logo, tagline, or about section. I wrote these mostly to get something down and they are totally open for change. In particular, I could not find a high res version of our logo, which is why it's kind of blurry. anyone have access to that or have another logo you would like to offer up?

This is a good move because I can now introduce friends and family both to PCC and to WiserEarth. More compelling to participate because it is an open forum!

hi. i like that the group is open so anyone can pop in and contribute and decide if they wanna stay or not. i like the logo. it comes up alot in pcc, and actually i was just thinking about it today: It appears to be representing the shift from Medieval to Newtonian conceptions of our cosmos (well, solar system for them, i guess) but that we have a similar phenomenon with the cosmic background radiation in that it represents the 13.7 billionish-light-year "away" that we can see, but we know that the matter we are receiving these lovely informations on is about 46 billion light years away. fabulous! we just haven't poked our heads out yet. i wonder if that will be done from the "inside," though.

Another question is whether we should have the group open for anyone to see but not join in. I think this is a good idea so people can see what we're about, for the good of the program. There is the issue of whether or not this setting will restrict what we talk about. I think since we still have PCCchat we should use that for any sensitive material.
Finally, we should figure out what roles people should have. I'm an administrator because I started the group and that's what they assigned me. I have accepted everyone as group members because that is what is the default option. I don't really know the difference between an administrator, an editor, a group member or the fourth one whatever it is. I will try to find this out. I don't see why we can't all be administrators really, but maybe there are reasons for a hierarchy, e.g. some people would be responsible for maintaining the site actively. These are things we should discuss. I'll see what I can find out about the status of members.
