There's an interesting discussion over on Newsvine on the issue of economic growth with a focus on peak oil issues.
With the dramatic drop in the price of oil, not to mention the huge economic downturn, most of us concerned with this issue are waiting for the new administration to roll out its promised plans.
Now that Obama has picked his energy team and economists like Krugman are calling for huge federal stimulus programs to keep the country from going into a full blown depression, the big question will be whether or not Obama can get the funding from congress to create a renewable energy jobs surge.
What will it take to get people to wake up and demand that hundred's of billions of dollars be shifted into new energy programs?
Here's what will happen if those who are environmentally concerned don't act.
1. A first strong attempt at major jobs for energy bill will make a splash. The coal, nuclear and utility industry, along with the media will attempt to kill it.
2. They will likely do so unless there is a strong public response.
3. The clean coal and big utility budget agenda will then be allowed to take the money that Obama could have gotten for renewables.
4. All of this will happen within the next month or two unless every environmentally concerned citizen gets on the phone, internet and media.

It looks like this forum lost any kind of public activity.
Any ideas why this is the case?
