HI -  We've set up our group as http://www.wiserearth.org/group/greenconvene .

Two questions:

1) I can't find the Green Convene Policy Network through the wiserearth search function, either under the "All" or "Group" setting. The group is not set for private and I can get to it with the url, but

the group doesn't seem to come up in the search results.

How do we get it added to search results?

Is this a bug in the WiserEarth search or are we set up  to be "hidden" somehow?

2) Is there a way to Add a Group to the tabs under "Network"  for our organizations page ( http://www.wiserearth.org/group/greenconvene)

Thanks!

Hi Adena,

Sorry for any troubles you may have encountered with this - we've found there's been a issue with the open source software we use for our search engine in finding new groups.  Our developers are looking into it, and it should be fixed fairly soon. So it's definitely a bug and will be remedied as soon as possible.  :)

Regarding adding your group to your organizations' page - that's actually a feature we're still working on adding into the page.  For now, would you mind temporarily using the About section to list the link to your group?  I'll make sure to notify you once we have this feature enabled for our org pages.  We're planning on rolling out a redesign of our org profile pages to better highlight content and connections, esp with group connections, so we hope to have that up within a month or so.

Let me know if that answers your questions - happy to follow up.

I encountered the same problem with GreenBlueprint when we created GreenBlueprint Film through the Related Groups creation tool. Once created, I could not find it through search in Related Groups to link to it. I could only get to it via the drop down below my name when I was signed in.

But, I *was* able to find GreenBlueprint from Related Groups within GreenBlueprint Film and link "backwards" which acts as a two way link and now GreenBlueprint Film appears as a related group in GreenBlueprint.

I assumed, incorrectly perhaps, that the new listing took a while to propogate, or be approved, or you know, something.

Be well,

Jerry

Hey Jerry - yup, this is definitely a bug with our search engine's indexing feature - hopefully we'll have a fix up soon!

Have there been any developments on searching for related groups?  I still seem to be having the same types of issues mentioned above on Firefox, IE7, IE8, Chrome, and Safari.

Are there any other ways to connect groups other than using the "Create a New Related Group" function or posting the URLs of the related groups in a Bulletin Board?

If the open source search engine is still problematic, one possibility in the meantime might be to use a filterable list similar to the Event Access Privileges list.  The groups I am trying to connect through Related Groups can't be found through the search feature but are present in this list (below).  While this might not be the ideal solution, it would make the Related Groups module somewhat more functional.

Thank you for all that you are doing.  WiserEarth is one of the most useful online tools/resources I have ever come across.

Matt
