Hey, all:

I would like to find out how expanded titles in the above 3 categories can be created. Where do they come from? From the URL source, or are they generated by the browser? How can they be added to, improved, so they have more usefulness? One big reason is to be able to use the Back and Forward buttons much more effectively, without having to 'fish' from button to button. If these titles are more complete, fishing is largely eliminated.

All these 3 categories seem to have the same contents, so if one is missing its contents all are, so if improvements are made in a central location, it should improve all the categories.

Help?

I think the longer titles has been a recent improvement to the site - however, I will check in with the technical team on this one.

Hey David,

Usually the title of a page that also appears on a tab is set by the HTML code of the page. Are there pages that have unclear titles? If so, please give me some examples so I can see how we might improve this feature.

Thanks,
Honore

Hey, all:

Hey, Honore: It turns out that most of the 'blanks' occur on the "Browse", "Edit", etc. links on the left. Maybe 2/3s of those are blank. Since I use them a lot, this only accentuates the problem, and although I don't know how much others use them, it seems since these are central features in navigating the site, so it would help to see labels on the browser items for them.

I wonder if this is an isolated observation since it is just you, me, and Camila involved here. Usually others chip in on larger more common problems. But, I use up-to-date Firefox on a PC with XP so you can't get much more mainstream than that.

Thanks for the help!

Ahh, those pages - I think the titles were left off because they're a dynamic search query through our database, rather than static pages. I can ask our developers about adding titles to differentiate between them - it shouldn't be too hard unless there's some query issues. Thanks for pointing them out!
