I've posted about this on another forum ( http://www.wiserearth.org/forum/view/9775e0601b61f9ecbe146df704e77beb ), but it doesn't seem to get the traffic this one does so I'll throw it up here too. I'm wondering about the corollary sites I am hearing about, WiserBusiness and WiserGovernment. What will these be about? I suspect WiserBusiness might be a way for various for-profit businesses to network and discuss ways to be more environmentally and socially conscious. As for WiserGovernment, I don't know what to expect. I'd like some more information about these sites, but I am also interested in the meta-question of how the three Wiser sites will be connected. This concerns me primarily because I am interested in how we can use the social networking of WiserEarth to create a critical mass of people who can organize and affect the bottom line of businesses in particular regions (I'm thinking of the Bay Area, primarily). Essentially what is required is something similar to yelp.com, but focused on green/just values. Will this be part of WiserBusiness? I guess this is connected to the larger question of what can we do with this great site that is ripe and ready.

I love the style of yelp and think that we could learn from it. It'd be great to have a user base which can review businesses, their practices, and keep them accountable. WiserBusiness and WiserGov have been put on hold for now. There have been discussions on whether they will be folded into WiserEarth or be separated too. It appears that somehow the data on these sites will be integrated so that it will be quickly accessible to users. That's my preference at least... One reason why WiserEarth has been inclusive of just nonprofits so far, is that many nonprofits simply do not have the voice or visibility that businesses or governments typically have. WiserEarth has been a way for these smaller groups to operate on a more even playing ground, and find and network with other players with similar agendas in the nonprofit world. So a big question is, how do we create a balance... to provide visibility to small groups, while at the same time, provide a way for users to access info about business and government? We'd appreciate any other thoughts on this subject.

I'm very excited by this discussion. We may very well be talking about the foundation of a tool for utility comparisons across cultures, industries, governments and world-views.

I envision that perhaps in the future, the three necessary parts of society represented by the WISER are acknowledged as equally valuable for facilitating human actualization and thus set equal in a scheme for describing value itself - allowing peaceful negotiation of paradigm shifts (which would preserve balance and thus maximum global social utility).
