I just want to post that we had an amazing event last night at 8 Limbs Yoga Studio on Capital Hill. Performers and community members came together to raise $650. for the Wednesday Community Breakfast! This will support the breakfast for 3 months, the money will be use to purchase food. It was a beautiful evening. With gratitude-Linda

...Serving fifty people-
Four-six committed food gathers, cooks, servers and such willing to get up at 6am once a week. A space- like a community center not far from where the four-six reside. (This being an important aspect of the sustainability of such a project). A plan to raise the funds- through community participation- to buy supplies (around $250. a month to feed 50 once a week). House concerts with beautiful food, bring willing donors! Scrabbled eggs. hash-browns, grits and toast oj, milk, cold cereal, coffee and tea. And a whole lot of gratitude for the folks who come every week to have a hot meal at the beginning of their day, they are patient with our sometimes unorganized manner! and a willingness to go home to eat oats after clean-up! This breakfast can happen anywhere there are 50 hungry folks. and if all who commit to being there, follow through, it is light work for 3 hours a week. I hope this is as much an inspiration, as it has been for us, to have brought community closer together over the year we have been a part of it. Linda-for Cascade Shelter Project |
