David,

It would appear that I have found your Whole System Design discussion forum, thanks for the pointer.

David as you may already know I have for years now been considering the creation of a field of human endeavor which I aptly call Planetary Development – Our Own. Which shall be with all of the fineries of detail be dealing with the Whole System Design restructuring of our civilizations socio-economic affaires if that isn’t a mouthful to swallow. I call it the craftsmanship of planetary human operating systems with the Cooperated Linear Order of Non-aligned Descendancies or the CLOND as a kind of a headliner example of the tentative processes that can be employed by the field. On the website http://www.planetarydevelopment.com I display the CLOND’s basic design and its glossary of terms which are still going up and will continue to do so over the next year or so. David I am also looking at the development of an on line periodical for the field coming maybe in two years or so. Planetary Development as a field its website and all of its components is as I describe on the website is right at its inception phase and a work in progress just like our civilization itself and it is not likely that any of it is going to take off into the mainstream anytime soon. Unless a major convulsion occurs across our civilization forcing us to consider new directions or options in somewhat the near future, but I doubt it.

David what we may start here is sort of the cutting edge phalanx of this very new field of thought on Whole System Design/Planetary Development and to begin a more formative discussion phase such as that which I solicit to do on the website with the feedback forum, blog, message board and e-mail contact information. David I want to reassure you that this is the right direction of thought and ultimately action to engage in. As you look across the world it takes little to see that a greater cohesion of thought and action is needed across our world the question is just how are we going to engage in that process and with what tools do we apply to the task. I call it the highest degree of supply and demand economics where the need becomes an absolute a solution then appears to meet the challenge of the need.

Well it is good dropping in on you here David at Whole System Design and like Planetary Development things may seem to move slowly along for a while which is at this point an unspecified period of time but like I said above this to will change for some very fundamental reasons. The innate human condition on our world shall demand it and David this is an absolutely new frontier of soul, mind, and spirit and of the physical economic form. Like Louis and Clark, Stanley and Livingston it is the blazing of a new trail across the human condition itself. Cool man.

Hi David and Randy. I am curious about Whole System Design but I'm not sure I understand what it is. Is it intended to be a new field, like Evolutionary Biology was a new field based on Darwin's theories, or modern Linguistics was born of Chomsky's theories?

And if so, is there a founder of this new field, or a seminal work? And what are the goals of this study? For instance, I think the goal of Evolutionary Biology is to understand the mechanisms which lead to the formation of different species and perhaps also variations within species. The goal of Linguistics I think is to understand the rules of Universal Grammar, which would then give insights into brain function and also allow the development of a star-trek-like computer that could converse with us in English.

Can you give me an idea of what the origins and goals of Whole System Design are?

I will try in brief to answer both of you hay the quarry of two David’s,

As I explain on the website for Planetary Development or PD the field shall be comprised of an amalgam of human disciplines such as medicine, agriculture, engineering, different aspects of the physical sciences, economics, business and so on an so forth. There shall be not one single field of discipline involved but many to make the whole of the field. You can compare the field of Planetary Development liken to a great orchestra with many elements coming together to form a single great movement or score. This is where the layered effect of multitasking comes in with those playing their major roles within the more traditional fields of work but running concurrent with that traditional work shall be the development of a vast new infrastructure through the creation of an array of projects, missions, goals, strategies and or dreams common to all upon our world where people shall also be engaged in their minor field of work or PD and look at or deal with just how their major field of study or work can best be applied to those overall missions and so on.

Now this is not to say that Planetary Development as a field shall be leaderless not at all the idea is to create a world or governing council on Planetary Development where they who work full time in the field coming out of those many fields of endeavor mentioned shall investigate the missions, projects and so on developing the very framework that those in the field shall be looking to apply across the whole system. Now this world or governing council by right and passage shall have to receive its charge and sanction by the peoples of the world for its operational authority and by doing so rendering to it both the credibility and accountability to all of our worlds citizens. Part of this rendering process that I see and also deem necessary like the field itself is the vote in the UN General Assembly for the creation of what I call the Great Seal of Planetary Development which shall be used as the official backdrop in all forms of communication and media. Planetary Development shall be tied into and across all of our worlds nation states and I wish to be very clear here with on a full and equal basis in partnership with all of the indigenous populations or tribes across the world. It is high time that they the indigenous world had a full and equal voice on our planet equal to the nation states with a social tool or mechanism to apply that voice in the form of action across our civilization.

The root experience that some of these indigenous people have dates back in some cases for thousands of years and thus can be defined as a successful living system across time so we might want to consider these people liken to elder statesman on our world and pay attention to what they have to say. These long term innate codified living systems cannot be ignored any longer either by the comparatively much younger nation states of the world or our species in general. This is where social anthropology shall come into play within PD as they sift through the historical and living data bases translating the information out for usage and application across our world’s societies a monumental task by itself the development of a kind of systematized and standardized approach and development for both specific cases and for general use as well.

Well I hope this helps shed a little more light on the subject in terms of operational mechanics.

I will check that out. One of the principle requirements of whole system design is an efficient flow of information to all the participants in the designed set of relationships/connections/bridges so as to allow them to respond to opportunities and act to preserve that which is valuable to them.

We should think that through and work with Wiser Earth to facilitate that here.
