As I was adding a resource today that provides remote sensing data for environmental management in the Mesoamerica area I realized we don't have a sub-portal (that came up in my searches) for GIS or remote sensing or satellite imagery etc. Closest I found was one about information and communication technology. Do we have a sub-portal that I missed? If not, this subject is pretty big at present and growing and doesn't always fit into internet or information technology...I think it warrants a separate sub-portal.

Hi Chelsea,

I don't know a lot about GIS/Remote Sensing, but it sounds like a new technology used in a lot of fields, one of which is environmental in nature. I would be hesitant to create an area of focus based on the tools an organization might use, because the AofF tags are suppose to reflect the mission of the organization.

In the case of a resource, I would type, "GIS" and "remote sensing" as the keywords field and select at least "Environmental Monitoring" and some of the Areas of Focus that involve 'Management' in their title.

But I'll keep an open mind.
