Are there plans to support adding content via the API? Unless I'm missing something that is not currently supported I believe?

You are right. We are planning to have a 'write' API at some point and make that available to trusted content partners. Do you have any specific ideas in mind? Best, Angus

Well I dont have any specific ideas currently, but general ones,e.g.

A mobile app that allows browsing but also adding content. Handy for on-the-fly edits.

A different website that displays similar information about the kind of data that is in WE, they might consider switching to using WE content but may also want to support their users adding new entries via their site, that would get added directly to WE.

One question is whether WE is aiming to be truly a complete index of all organizations working towards environmental and social goals. For example, should it include entries for all Transition groups as they grow? If the TT website has an index of all of them, is there benefit it that data being mirrored into WE?

Both apps sounds like a good idea to me. Coupled with something like RPX (somehow?), would make it easier to do data entry from 'afar'?

And I think adding the ever growing Transition Towns/Groups/Initiatives into WE would be beneficial to both WE and TT communities. With geo-search enabled now, it would be easier for WE members to find organizations near them (which could channel more people toward each TT). And likewise, I imagine it would be easier for each TT to find nearby organizations to work with via WE's directory.

And definitely yes, I would advocate for WE to be a truly complete (and updated) index of organizations working towards environmental and social goals.

I've suggested before that we would want to capture all the TT groups (probably as CBO type orgs on WiserEarth). Making data entry easier (through the API and through the WiserEarth UI) is key in any case.
