Gravel was great (period). He was finally given enough time to lay down his thoughts and agenda. He was also calm and collected. I would really recommend that everybody take a look at the streaming video link posted below. This was part of the NewsHour's coverage of the primaries, and as such they are devoting one segment each day to a different candidate.

Enjoy

Thanks Nico, I'll take a look. While I'm not a fan of starting the campaign process so far ahead of the actual election, one of the benefits for long-shot candidates like Gravel and Kucinich is that their small chunks of time here and there add up, and over the long haul, they work their way into the consciousness of the voters. For the front-runners, it seems to have the opposite effect; people grow tired of them, because it's hard to not take a strong stand on any significant issue for 1.5 - 2 years.

What i'm wondering is how can we build the group numbers? I tried inviting a bunch of people who had politics in their profile, but so far so bad. It's almost impossible to get people to join.

How can this be remedied?

I also tried a craigslist advert, no luck.

I stumbled on this page while browsing the list. If Mike Gravel (or any other candidate) wishes to boost his chances of election beyond what his stand on issues allow him [http://www.gravel2008.us/issues.php] my colleagues and I believe he’d have to take massive action: To set peoples mind on fire!

To increase his chances from what is a virtual 0 right now to a possible 33-35 percent, he would need a plan and a solemn pledge to CHANGE the world: To de-globalize (de-imperialize), decorporatize and demilitarize United States and by that ROW.

Would he then be elected? Who know, he just might. Between now and the next election many human-induced catastrophes could occur, and the chances are they would. What that means is the world would be a very different place a year, even six months from now! The electorate would need more than just a political figure to rally around. They would seek a ‘savior.’

And if he doesn’t get elected despite all of that, he would still come out winning. He would have set standards by which others may be judged, while discharging his human and public responsibilities compassionately and with excellence. What has Mike Gravel got to lose?
